Day #10 Quotes for Writers

“I have written because it fulfilled me. . . I did it for the buzz. I did it for the joy of the thing. And if you can do it for joy, you can do it forever.” Stephen King, “On Writing”

When is the last time you wrote simply for the joy of it?
When is the last time you forgot about what your publisher wanted, what your audience wanted, and what your inner English teacher was saying?
When is the last time you poured forth words simply because you wanted to write them?
Your best writing will be that which brings you the most joy.
Stephen King is successful not only because he is a master of writing, but because he takes great delight in the act of typing words on paper.
It’s his joy.
Is it yours?

I expected this writing of a book to be painful. I read a lot about the pain. But I have found there is such joy in it. My little book will probably never see the light of day, but I am so happy making these people come to life.
